Hey, everyone...!
[ A friendly smiling face pops up on the network! While Touya is a bit uncertain about making a post addressed at everyone, he still manages to give a friendly and open expression. ]
I've travelled a lot back home, but to be honest, I never imagined there could be a region as different from what I know as this.... Ah, well, I know cities like this one, but.... my world is populated by Pokémon. And I've been informed that the non-human creatures here are not unknown Pokémon but something else entirely....
[ They look like Pokémon though. He's going to need a while to truly deal with this. ]
I think I'm going to need someone to teach me their names and habits. I'd like to try and make friends with them.
[ All of them. Pet or no pet. All of them. ]
Oh and if we haven't met... My name is Touya. It's nice to meet you, even if the circumstances are a little strange!
Third Person:
Touya tried to tell himself it was really just like coming to a new town normally was. The lease was certainly a bit unsettling, but he'd attempt to not think about it for now. Permanently settling down... After two years of constantly moving around, it was an odd thought.
At least it helped him develop a routine of exploring new places. The first step of entering any new city was always to check it out. All of it, up to the very last corner. Touya had an idea that this place was a bit larger than the average town he got to, but he'd stick to his habit anyway. The longer it took, the longer he'd not have to face the problem of 'what now?'.
It was always exciting to be somewhere new. It only took a few minutes of walking down the streets for most worries to clear from Touya's mind. He smiled a little to himself and quickly nodded in greeting at the people he passed.
There wasn't any point in looking for usual landmarks like the PokéCenter or the gym, he knew now, so he didn't pay much attention to where he was walking. The feeling of walking alone, without any Pokémon at his side, was certainly weird. More than once he thought 'wow, they would like this spot' and then sheepishly shrugged to himself at the realization that he couldn't exactly show them.
"I should probably stop dwelling on what I can't have right now....", he sighed out loud, before turning his attention to a new shopping street. The atmosphere of this place certainly wasn't bad. It was clean and homely. Not 'homely' in small and rural way he knew from his birth village, but 'homely' as in 'inviting to stay for a while'.
'Now I'm thinking about it after all.... So much for distraction', he silently scolded himself, but this time he didn't attempt to push the thoughts aside. It couldn't hurt to take a break from his journey and reside here for a while, Touya decided, and entered the nearest shop.

History:
- Here's his Wiki! He's from Pokémon Black, so the legendary that chose him is Reshiram, the Pokémon in pursuit of truth. His starter Pokémon was Tepig.
His age is stated to be... a good chunk older than 11 but not further specified. As such I headcanon he was 15 at the start of his journey and 16 upon the end of the game. Seeing I take him from the two year gap between BW and BW2, when he is on the search for N, that makes him 17 for the time he arrives at Holly Heights.
Appearance:
Personality:
- (Like all the Pokémon game-verse protagonists, Touya is silent and all of his lines are cut. The statements of other characters as well as the game-play and plot give a good indication of what he acts like, but in the end it is up to interpretation.)
Touya is a quiet, kind-spirited boy who has become the chosen hero of truth. As such he does not like to be strongly opinionated and rather hears out all sides to a problem before slowly making judgement. Truth is not something to be determined quickly to him but something to discover over time.
Touya is described as a neutral presence compared to his friends Cheren and Bianca, who are too strength-obsessed and too soft respectively. Where they are black and white, he's grey.
This lack of strong position comes with a problem saying 'no' and sticking to it. Over the course of the gameplay, Touya is asked a lot of 'yes/no' questions but in most cases Touya will end up being pushed to say 'yes' in the end, even if his initial answer is chosen to be otherwise. This shows that Touya has a hard time refusing a favour. When he's finally being talked into agreeing to something, he will definitely keep his word. While Touya's 'no' is usually not unchangeable, his 'yes' is likely to be unconditional. He loves helping people out and seeing them happy so he does not see his inability to refuse as a burden or weakness.
In his adventure he seems to drift along with what other people expect a lot. When someone approaches him to drag him somewhere, he follows right away. It does not appear that he minds much when he has to detour. His adventure is more about the journey and less about the destination. Touya likes travelling. He's lived his whole life in the same small town, but now that he can go out and see the world he enjoys every bit of it.
On his journey, Touya meets and befriends a lot of new people. He's certainly a social person and he likes listening to what someone has to say. However, he may also appear as rather shy. Professor Juniper heartily encourages him when he first has to talk to a nurse, making it seem that at the start of his journey Touya has trouble speaking to strangers. This is further supported by his friends usually introducing him, instead of leaving space for him to introduce himself to someone new.
It is fairly easy to make Touya nervous and really hard to make him feel afraid. His dialogues in canon seem to be rather one-sided with him only speaking rarely, which I account to him being intimidated by the urgency with which people speak to him. It is hard for him to speak lengthily in such moments. He prefers limiting extended conversations to calmer situations, which he can think his words over and speak at his own pace.
However, this should really not be confused for fear. Touya is a boy who always faced the brutal Team Plasma head-on without the slightest hesitation. It is not easy to scare him.
People Touya has really bonded with are the most important thing in his life. He appears very close to his mother, constantly worried he's burdening her too much, and shares a very close relation to his friends. That includes his Pokémon. Touya does not make a difference between Pokémon and human; he is equally loyal and loving towards friends of both species. When confronted with the ideal of Pokémon and humans living separately in order to be happy, it confuses him. He is at the happiest when he is with his Pokémon and more than anything he hopes they feel the same (they do), so it is hard for him to grasp why that should be a bad thing. Still, he is willing to hear out the other side of the issue time and time again, understanding the thought is born from more than a whim. It's this exact trait that led to him becoming a hero almost accidentally.
Touya is a forgiving person and sometimes he'd rather blame himself than others. When he and his friends accidentally destroy his bedroom's furniture with Pokémon battles, Touya does not show any anger towards them. Rather, his mother has to assure him to not worry about it, indicating he usually would. On the larger scale, he can also forgive greater mistakes such as trying to take over the entire region, oops. As Touya comes to understand why N did what he did and based on what ideals, he forgives him easily. More than that, he dedicates his life to looking for him to become the friends they could not be before due to the outer circumstances.
Still, Touya is not so mellow that he's without any moral compass. When somebody is hurting people with the sole intention to cause harm, Touya will stand up against that person and fight passionately for the value of kindness.
As stated in previous paragraphs, it is rare for Touya to really set his mind on something out of his own accord. When he does, however, his determination is all-consuming. Looking for N is a goal he set for himself and in trying to reach it, he even forgets to stay in contact with home - normally a priority for him.
Even without something to distract him, Touya's memory is still not the best. He has a habit of keeping a detailed diary so he won't forget about any precious memory he made. (A lot of Pokémon players save very, very often. The saving progress is visualized by diary writing, thus explaining this personality trait.)
Overall, Touya is always ready to accept his fate. When he is chosen as a hero, he calmly and humbly accepts the responsibility. He never aimed to become an as important person as he turned out as, but when he becomes it he neither complains nor brags about it. Sometimes he does not understand what makes him special and feels uncertain about his life, but he hardly says so out loud because he respects the feelings of the people who put their faith into him.
Abilities:
- No super-natural abilities as such. Otherwise it's notable that Pokémon absolutely love him and he loves them, so I assume it would be the same with regular animals. He's really good at handling them and understanding what they need. The perfect pet sitter, he's born for the job.
Other:
- I'm keeping his name as Touya, which is the Japanese original, while going with him knowing the English name versions for other characters and places to avoid confusion, ICly and OOCly. Seeing his name as a protagonist in the game is to be freely chosen by the player anyway, I don't think this contradicts anything much. (However, if this isn't alright with you, I have no problem playing him under the name Hilbert instead.)
